The United States has the highest GDP in the world, I think it is around 9 trillion dollars. Nobody else comes close to that I believe.
The highest GDP per capita if I remember correctly is Luxembourg at $42000 or so.
(These numbers are old).

The United States has the highest living standard in the world. What that means, I think, is that it's easier in the United States to have earnings, and to make money.
China may catch up to the United States if they keep booming along with their stock market, and increased wages and earnings for workers. Great migration taking place there from the country to the cities.

From what I read...I don't think China will be catching up anytime soon among the richest countries in the world....It's not even the richest country in Asia...Japan is. And China ranks number 11 in Asia with $5000 GDP.
