I just saw one commercial in national geographic that it is possible that one of these days we'll face another Ice age sooner than we think maybe not more than 10 years from now because of Global warming.. Suddenly I feel alarmed because I remember when I watched the movie "the day after tomorrow" what is said in that movie is exactly what will happen in the near future. do you believe that it might happen again?do you think that we can still prevent Global warming? Is it really the reason why we have natural disasters?

Science has long known what causes Ice Ages. It comes from a long term variation in the earth's orbit. Every several hundreds of thousands of years the earth wanders into an orbit that takes it a little further away from the sun. In terms of geological time, we just left one of these and there won't be another for at least 100,000 years.
What you might be concerned about is what is called a mini ice age. These occur as a result of a 1500 year cycle in the output of the sun's energy. About the year 3000 we are due another of those. So, there is really no need to worry about this either.
As to the next 10 to 20 years, 2 chinese scientists have recently published an article detailing why they think the earth might cool for the next 20 years, but it won't be an ice age. Remember the 1940's and 1950's? We're talking temperatures about like happened back then.
Under discussions I have started at my profile page you can find links to some of these things.

i think we cannot just leave these things to scientists, acturally, all we ca do is look back on what we have done, and what we should do from now on. if we keep doing horrible things to the nature, maybe that might happen.so this is about everybody in the world.
