We call that egg in a hole at my house. And my girlfriend grew up calling it toad in a hole. We had a huge conversation about this one night when she came over and I made them for bedtime snack for my kids. They love them. I do mine just a bit different than you do though. I start out the same but before I flip them over I put grated cheese on the egg and take the piece of bread that I cut out, flatten it, butter one side and cover the hole. Then I flip it and let it fry for a couple more mins.

Yes, I love those! My mom and grandmother always called them "Rocky Mountain Eggs". When I was little they gave my sister and I the center pieces of the bread to eat while breakfast was cooking. Mmmm happy delicious memories.

I've never had it like that, but I'm going to try it! Bread and fried eggs just go together, anyway.

I have had that, and called it the same thing, a birds nest. I love them. But, I should use a cup, like you mentioned. I just pull out a whole with my fingers. :)

I haven't made those in years! The kids used to call them dippin eggs. We'd cook the eggs so the yolks weren't quite set, and they'd dip the circle and another piece of toast into the yolk.
