Do you go the meetings and fund raise and all that? I just started going to my daughters school pto meetings and it has really opened a new line of communication with her teachers.

Yes I'm an active member of my dd's PTSO and volunteer as I am able to also. If I can't make a meeting, I email the president to get the minutes. There is so much information that you can learn about your children's school by being a member. It's sad to to that there are only a handful of parents involved though at our school. When you volunteer and are a part of the PTSO you get some added benefits, like getting to know the administration and teachers in a more social atmosphere. This way they know you by sight and by name when you're at the school. I'm so happy to be physically able to do these things now that I'm a bit healthier that I was 4 years ago.
