why some people like punk culture?

when i was watching mtv something get into my mind, why this punk band so popular and thier wardrobe is some kinda wierd. so why there are so popular?..

to the younger generations, following the punk genre of music and the attendent wardrobe is a form of rebellion. usually be teens as a way to rebel against their parents, or the school...basically authority in general.
