My parents always tried to find time for me specially during special occassions. I know work can take such a toll on family but they always made sure to find time. One way was to always know my schedules specifically those that require their presence such school plays, parties, grad and other important events. We find a common time to talk, like when I get home from work, that 5 minutes I use to relax my feet, is the time I use to talk with my dad. It helps a lot. Or I take part in activities that families do together, like cooking. We get to share more stories during this time. In other words, its sacrifice of personal time. If you have time to relax a few minutes, you can this time to talk with anyone in the family. Never forget specially occassions, like birthdays and anniversaries. A gift, a peck on the cheek and an I love you goes a long way. Communication is a good form of affection, it shows you care enough to spend time to listen and talk to that person.

Yes, I do agree that nowadays people who are both employed in a family are not able to spend time with their kids due to which there is lack of affection between the children and parents. To overcome this trend, we should control our expenditures and wants so that in a single earning we can fulfil our needs.
