Have you been in a fight with other users in a discussion?

I'm not a confrontational person, gemini. Recently, someone from my list of friends actually used my avatar as a picture in one her thread. I questioned her about it. She began attacking me saying that she used it because its perfect for her Easter celebration's thread. Its kind of offensive for me. She can easily surf through thousands of pictures with Easter theme. I just dropped the matter to avoid any more arguments.

I think it's pretty easy for people to get too emotional when discussing things on the Internet. People tend to be more open and forward with their opinions when there is a certain degree of anonymity involved. Also, many of the discussions brought up on myLot are concerning fairly controversial and sensitive topics (such as religion). The Internet also poses another problem in that comments can be easily misunderstood. Not only is there sometimes a language barrier, but you also cannot hear a person's tone of voice like you would if you were speaking to them in person. Finally, it might have something to do with the fact that so many different cultures are represented on myLot, which might have somewhat different values and ideals.

I havent been in a fight here regarding religion but i had my share in the real world. What i have learned is that RELIGION is one topic that shouldnt fight about since RELIGION cannot save anyone. I dont know why people fight over a name (BAPTIST, BORN AGAIN, CATHOLIC, SEVENDAY ADVENTIST, SABBATH KEEPERS, MORMONS, and MORE) when the MUCH IMPORTANT thing is to HAVE a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with GOD ALMIGHTY... Yes we should spread the gospel... Spread it not Fight over it... well i guess people tend to be defensive of what they believe that they think of the need to Fight for it. When all that happends is that both has integrity and has full pledge in the belief he has so to try to convince one another by argueing is pointless. What is needed is to convey in calm manners of each one's beliefs and make it a SHARING of what God has revealed to each one... Thanks :P
