Shipwreck surviving

If you were shipwrecked on some iland in the Pacific and no one comes to your rescue yet, and alone you must face the harsh weather, what are the survival technique that you must apply for ypou to survive?

I guess first and foremost would be to build some kind of shelter from the rain and wind. Next to collect fruit and water. Ideally you would want firewood to build a fire. However I'm unsure how you would light it! I would hope that I would not be alone and would have someone to keep me company as well so that I don't go completely mad!
