And I fell yesterday. Seems like I fall nearly everyday now. Yesterday, I was washing my hair, and down I went. I didn't dare get into the shower because I was in the house alone and I was afraid that if I fell I could be there for days before I was found and, frankly, I'm not sure that's a situation I actually WANT to be found in! Imagine: you are grossly overweight because you can't excersize and you are found naked in a shower. Hmmm... NOT! Just frigging LEAVE me there!! I really don't know what to do. I seem to fall all the time anymore and the Doctors won't replace my knees because of my age! They say that I am too young! I just don't get it! NOW is when I need them so I can work! I get that they only last about 20 uears and I am only 45, but, to me, if they wear out at 65 then, at least I can work and maybe get a better retirement! So what it I need a cane or a walker or a wheelchair then? At least then maybe I can buy food and pay rent!! I just get so frustrated! What are your opinios? Do you think I'm wrong? Sholdn't they just replace my kneed now and let me work!?

Sorry to hear about your knees, but good to be able to relate to someone. I also need both knees done, my left one is by far the worse one. I am 56 and they don't want to do mine, I also have asthma and that and the fact that they told me they can only guaratee the work for 6 or 7 years and being heavy I may not get that long so I was told to keep going for as long as possible. THANKS I always grumble under my breath. I can say I know what you're going through. Take care...

Thanks, Grandmaof2. I guess I just needed to rant. It's just so frustrating to have to live in a body that wages war with you every single day! Asthma, alergies, arthritis, migranes and cancer! What's next?! Thanks for the response and thanks for the support!

Oh my gosh this is terrible. Can you find another doctor for a second opinion? Also if you cannot excercise a lot can you try and bring down your weight a few pounds. It would be easier on your knees. I know dieting does not help, but changing little things does. For instance I have stopped myself from gaining more weight just by drinking 3 or 4 cups of green tea each day. It has worked for a year now, I have not gained an ounce (not lost either, mind you). At first I did not like the taste and had only one cup with a little sugar or honey, now I actually like the taste of it. Anyway, I hope you do something because these falls could seriously injure you.

I have to be honest, I have not tried green tea but I will. I have had three doctors tell me the same thing. My knees are shot- I can't go back to work and I can't replace them till I'm 65! I fell a few months ago and was on the florr 45 minutes before I wa able to figure out how to get up on my own. I'm really at muy wits end. I have no idea how to get around the "system". They seem to think that they know it all. Their guidelins seem to have nothing to do with reality and what a real person needs to make it in life. For example... My disability is just over $800.00 a month. Tell me -- Can ayone actually live on that? Anyway... That has little to do with this. I can't aford to go toa another doctor. The last one wants $1,000.00 for a 15 minute visit.

Seems to me that they would want to do that surgery on a younger person. You are right now is when you need them to work not when you are old enough to retire anyway. I would try to find a different doctor if it was me. Good luck.
