I got an e-mail th other day a that, think was suppose to be a joke. But it struck a nerve in me. To all United States citizens: did you know that you are being ripped off? Yep. The Politicians voted in a law years ago that stated that they would receive the same wage that they got when they were in office for life.I doesnt' matter that they may have served only one term -- the will receive the same wage for each year --evey year -- for the rest of their lives. Now the perso that sent me the e-mail proposed that they be forced to draw Social Security instead just like tht rest of us and they thought that this was a fine joke. But somehow, the humor is lost on me. I think this is a great idea. Maybe if they had to go without medical for two year while they qualified for it and they had to learn to live on $1,000.00 - $3,000.00 a month, every month, they would fix the system! What do you think? Would you vote for such legislation? I want to know!

This I don't understand. Their job isn't that stressful. Robert C. Byrd is like 137. It can't be that bad of a job. They don't need as much money because they have savings because their income has allowed them to invest. They should have to live off of the lowest social security. Most people will have to work until they die. This is not right.
Maybe not in my life time but soon. The US citizens are going to revolt. They need to consider the consequences of their actions. They raised taxes and insurance for me. Now my guys have to take a pay cut or find a new job. They lose and the insurance company makes more. Most politicians are in it for themselves so don't forget that when you vote.

Yeah, it's just not right. Whatever their last wage was they get to continue to draw it for the rest of their lives and their spouse gets to draw a percentage of that for the rest of herr/his life should they outlive the politician. This has been going on for many years and most American citizens don't even know about it! I think it's time to get the word out and get rid of this!

Some joke...it's the way it should be. What makes someone so special just because they are a politician.. I think that if they had to walk in the shoes of the rest of us then they might think a little differently about the general population....I'm sure it would get fixed very quickly.

I think the politicians are making way too much money as it is. I know for a fact if any one of them had to live on what we live on they absolutely couldn't do it. I've had to go without car insurance, favorite foods, and anything extra. Any one of our politicians accross the world would literally have a melt down if they had to live this way and Yes you're right they'd very soon change the system...

I know what you mean. I live on just over $800.00 a month and I can tell you that after I make my car payment and pay my insurance and pay for my prescriptions and put gas in the car, I have about $11.00 for the month! I'd love to see Bush try to live on that!
