Do you prefer LandLine, Wireless, or Both?

This discussion came about sitting in my new area of co-workers and it suprises me, most of them don't have a landline (house phone). I know with the booming of cellphones people are getting rid of their landlines and using their cellphones as home phones as well... Me, I have both. Actually I have VOIP (Voice Over IP), which works from my computer and I have a cellphone. I prefer both being that I have a son who I haven't decided if I'm going to buy him a cell phone of his own yet. So if when he's home, we can still be in contact or if he needs me. So I prefer both. What about you? Do you prefer one or the other?

i have a landline but thinking of ditching it for a cell. you only pay for what you use,and can take it with you. it's easier to change also if you keep getting crank calls.

I hear you. I have to have both, but I know so many people who just have a cell and that's fine for them.

I also have both a landline and a cell phone. I still get a lot of calls on my landline. People usually only call me on the cell phone when they can't get me at home.

I use both ,too.We use two landline connections.I use one for just internet and receiving important calls and the other for regular calls and I use my mobile as well.I think we need both because while making international calls landlins are much cheaper and you can't do without the mobiles when you are travelling or away from your phone. The popularity of landlines might decrease ,but I don't think it will die out anytime soon, specially if the telecom industry falls in a public sector. The government will surely introduce new measures and attractive packages to popularise it to squeeze in more revenue.

I think a lane line would be good for the office and home. Where there is a PC/laptop connection, a VOIP would be ideal too. And, a mobile is necessary too since you would definitely need to move around occasionally - even when just taking transport.

Where I live, we need a landline if we want internet connectivity as the Internet Service Provider for this country is also the country's main telecommunications company, subsidized by the government of course. So, everything is bloody cheap. Yeap, we need both. Unless there are people out there who can live without the internet. *gasp*

phone - Now I am considering to cut my cut house phone and use only my cellphone to communicate with my friends and family.
The monthly fee my landline is expensive. It is almost 3 times that of my cell phone. But still I have both now. I am considering to cut the landline in order to cut my expenses on communication. I haven't tried Voip yet, I don't how much they are going to charge me. And I have no idea how to use it.

I prefer landline because it has got a lot of users connected and less amount of hum is present in landline. The landline communication has got less amount of bill than wireless.Further with landline we can connect to the internet at a high speed.

I prefer using only cell phone... Cell phone is a gadget that u can use anywhere even if u are at home or in the middle of a highway.. If you are having a cell phone with you, I don't think its useful to have a landline also. Nowadayz companies are having almost 98% wireless coverage. So I guess taking a landline is not a very good idea if you are already paying for the cell phone..

I have both house phone and mobile phone. But I only use the mobile phone for calling and receiving calls, the housephone was applied only for me to access Internet. I still need to pay the rental for the phone, without using it for calls at all. It's quite a waste. Most of the people have mobile phones, even for kids. I think it's not necessary to have house phone, except for Internet access purpose.

I’m one of those people who don’t have a landline at home. Main reason for us not to get a landline is that my husband and I both have our cell phones and all members of my family (my mom, my dad, etc) as well as my husband’s family each have their own cell phone. So we feel that having a landline is just a redundancy on the function of the cell phone and thus is an additional expense. So we decided not to get a landline because we prefer the cell phone to the landline. With a cell phone, it’s mobile and portable so we can bring it with us anywhere we go. So we can contact anybody, anytime & anywhere we like.

i personall prefer to use my cell phone. i am on Cingualr and i can call anyone with Cingular or AT&T for free. Not to mention, i have free night and weekend minutes as well as free long distance. Land lines just cannot compare.

I have a landline and handphone too. Landline comes in useful for my parents cannot really use the cellphone. Keypads too small, display too small and a million other complains that they have. Its also good that they use the landline, cos they are seldom out of the house these days. And its a number that they do remember. If anything, they wont forget to call home too. They also cant seem to remember the handphone numbers of everyone in the house. LOL which is like ever changing.

I think one should have atleast one landline phone at his/her place. A landline connection should not be replaced by a mobile phone. One should have mobile phone also. Calling a landline no. is cheap if you call from a landline. Calling a mobile no. is cheap if you call from a mobile. So we can use both the phones as per our needs. Also in case of any natural disaster there is a possibility that atleast one of them would work.

According to my views and thoughts both have some features as they are used. As you see in country where I am living Pakistan, we have the Landline phone to use internet coz it is expensive using with Cellular phone. But I think that cell phone has a unique feature that a Lndline phone doesn't have that is the easily mobility of cell phone. We can take it where we go and use there and the greatest ever feature is that we can tell a lie on the cell phone. example one is at home but don't want to meet someone so one could say that I am away from home, in my opinion that is the extra feature of cell phone.
