What "instant" foods do you often buy, eat or store at home? In our house, we keep instant noodles, instant coffee, instant soup. What about you?

we keep at home instant noodles and instant oatmeal. i eat the oatmeal coz my family doesn't like it, only me. i don't eat much instant noodles (even though they are fortified) because too much of it can lead to overstock of sodium in our bodies which is not good.

Oh how come your family doesn't like oatmeal? It's good for the heart! =) I agree with the sodium part re: instant noodles. But they're so easy to prepare it's so hard to kick the habit of eating them!

I don't keep instant foods in our home. Everything I buy to make from scratch. Pasta, bread, and so forth. It tastes so good, and the house smells so yummy.

Wow, you must be a very health conscious family. Good for you =) My family has yet to master the art of appreciating good, quality and fresh food, though =/

We keep instant mashed potatoes, instant rice, oatmeal. Soup in a can, Spaghetti O's, Ravioli in a can, chicken nuggets, would those be considered instant since you can just take them out and heat them in the microwave and eat them?

I think so! =) Microwaveables come in handy but I'm constantly reminded of how unhealthy they could also be. Oh well. Spaghetti O's...yum!

Thanks for your response. I agree that it's really not healthy to keep food for long periods of time.

My sister and I try to keep as few instant foods around as possible because they have a lot of hidden sodium. However, since no one is perfect, we do have instant soup, mashed potatoes, and sometimes oatmeal. We also always keep around one of those Homestyle Bakes. I forgot who putes them out but they are basically an instant casserole. They're not the greatest things, but they can get you out of a pinch pretty fast when there is nothing else around to eat.

You have instant mashed potatoes? Wow, I wish we had those available here too! How do you prepare them? (Sorry for the ignorance hehe)

Oh, I have lots of instant food due to the convenience of having them all around. I can whip something up in super quick time if I'm hungry at any time of the day. Also, if in case of unexpected guests, I can cook something for them quickly. So I have instant oats for oat porridge. This can be prepared really quickly. There's also instant coffee. A nice caffeine drink in a jiffy. And of course instant noodles. I like the curry flavoured ones. Easy to cook and I can make a reasonably nutritious meal just by adding an egg.

Hurrah for instant meals, yes? I used to have instant noodles three times a day...bad for the health, I know, but they're just so damn addictive!

Hehe! I think it's understandable if you have instant pizza here, there and everywhere in Italy =)
