Who is the closest person to you, apart from your partner?

The boring bit first...... I was brought up by my Uncle & Aunt from the age of 11 months as my mother had died and my father already had 4 other children to look after. My Aunts family was quite large (10 children all but 3 left home). The nearest to me was a girl 9 years older. She and myself have a terrific bond better than a brother sister relationship I suppose. She was the one I always ran to with my problems all through the years, as a young boy growing up, puberty, girlfriends, sexuality, marriage and all things that concerned me through my life. She is the closest person to me apart from my wife, and still is at 85 years old! Who is the one you would run too? Your Mom, your Dad, your brother/sister?

The closest person to me is my sister. She is my best friend and knows me better than even my partner. She is 6 years younger and when we were children I didn't like her very much;) But when I was an adult and she was teeneger we become friends. She sometimes seems to know better what I feel and what I want. My other friends don't know as much as my sister about me. The same I can tell about the rest of our family.

I would have to say that my three children are the closest to me. I have one daughter and two sons and of the three of them, my youngest son is the closest. There is nothing he wouldn't do for me, and he calls in every day to know if I need anything. The other two would also do anything for me but I would have to ask them. I think boys are just much more affectionate than girls.

We always wanted a girl Alexandria but things didn't go in that direction I'm afraid. I would say though that my son is probably closer to my wife than to me and I suppose girls are the same to thier fathers. But at least you have a closeness of hearts with your youngest. Thanks for that.

I would have to say my son. I know alot of people say that as a parent you shouldn't be your child's friend, I disagree to a point. My son knows I'm his mother first but I can still be his friend. I really do enjoy his company and conversation. He's funny and sweet, caring and strong all rolled into one. Even if he wasn't my son, I think I would be drawn to him as a person. That doesn't mean he doesn't know his place or that he believes he can be disrespectful or not listen to me but he also knows that he can turn to me for anything and I'm open to any discussion he wants to have. I treat him like a person, first and foremost.. because even though he's my child - he's still a person. My husband is my bestfriend but my son is also one of my bestfriends. Had you asked me this question a few years ago, I might have also included my adult niece on this list but sadly we have grown apart recently and no longer even speak to each other because of a nasty turn of events. She USE to be one of my closest friends.

Hi 'Heaven'...I think sons and mothers seem to have that 'thing' together as our does to his mother. Sorry to hear about your niece but family differences always seem to be the most disturbing.

I run to my best friend from the States. We've never met yet she's the one I talk to about EVERYTHING! I am close to my family but not like it used to be. We've drifted a little since I moved overseas, and although we keep in touch, it's not a regular thing we have anymore. I have a few friends online that I trust with my most personal details and they've been the ones to truly help out when I've needed an ear or someone just to tell me that things will be okay. I appreciate that more than they know.

Now I'm joking here but a 'friend' of mine once said to me that 'A friend in need is a bloody nuisance'...!! Correcting him I said...'A friend in need is a friend indeed'! Of course I never did believe him and we are still friends to this day! Thank goodness you have a true friend.

My mom. Last night after a really tough night I gave her a call at 11 and she talked to me until I was laughing and feeling better about everything. She knows everything about me, since we've always been open so she's really easy to talk to since she already knows the score.

I am the only child in my family though I prefered I have one or even more brothers or sisters. The clostest persons are my dear parents.Apart from them, that's my best friends......From time to time,I couldn't tell my parents all of my troubles , my unhappiness,or my future crazy plan. However, I can tell them everything happened in my life. I puzzle, why? the only answer is loving parents too much to try my best not to let them worry about me.

Hi 'Finvine. I think parents worry about their children from the moment they are born and I am glad to hear that yours are ones you can turn to when in distress.

I am sorry to hear you have no person to talk to apart from your husband but mostly I think we can rely on our partners first. I hope you never have any upsetting moments to worry about. Thanks.

My mother has always been the closest to me. I was raised single handedly by mother who believes she needs to do everything for me to survive. We have been thru all phases of life together and she is always still there for me even now at old age. I can tell her anything and she will always come up with a solution.
