Birthday blues?

I remember looking forwards to being 16, 18, 21.
25 was ok, life was still an adventure and lots of good fun.
27 it all changed for I became a mum.
30 not too bad - just a number, not a big one
Now 35 looms just a few days away
What happened to birthdays when I'd go out and play?
Looking in the mirror is no longer such fun
I'm worn out and fed up and have a fat bum
Why did my birthday change in this way?
Celebrate - no, just hide away.
I saw it coming - couldn't keep it at bay
I will be 35 on Monday!
Birthday Blues came and hit me, in their special way
If I sound grim now, just wait for that day!
Why do we celebrate the years that are gone?
I look back remembering it was all lots more fun!

Feeling poetic, eh? It all boils down to aging and being human, no? I have often wondered why people persist in staying alive when they are better off not.

I hope you can find a way to celebrate another earned year. What we go through makes it amazing that we make it yet another year. I hope that suprises are coming your way and that you can enjoy this day of yours. Your birthday is the day we were blessed with your appearance and many are better because you came and are here. Take care my friend and many happy returns.

Happy early Birthday. My worse B-Day was my golden birthday. I turned 25 and I could only think, "My gawwdd I'm a 1/4 century old. Now I'm past the 1/2 century hoping to make it to that century mark. Again Happy Birthday Early.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!

Thanks Grandpa Bob, I'm gald it's not just me who gets blues over age, lol.
Birthdays really started to bite it for my when I hit 30, I was a complete sulk for about a month before and after, never thought I'd be 30 it was a big deal, I'm getting calmer each year now but it's a scary thought really - most of my family dont get to 60 so I am could be well over 1/2 way there, lol.
I keep thinking it's just a number but oooh, scary numbers, lol.

200? I wasn't planning on a rhyme that long gabs, lol.
Maybe a little imortality would give me a bit of zip back - know where I can get any?
Indianna Jones dropped the cup of eternal life in a chasm, but I suppose I could take a family climbing holiday and find it, lol.

Happy Happy Birthday for Monday Rainbow! I turned 41 last year and didn't even think about it too much! It just seems to be another numbe nnow. I do think you get a bit more respect as you grow older though. I work with elderly (over 80) people and I find they don't talk to me like I was a kid anymore. There must be something good to come of it....

Happy Birthday Rainbow! Don't let it get you down too much, i turned the Big 40 in January, and there is not real difference. It's just a milestone nothing more. And yes, I'm still alive and kicking, just very busy these days and not as much time as I'd like for Mylot. drop me an email any time, and I will try to log in here as often as I can. Cheers!

From one poetry writer to another (YOU) please let me say, your poem is great the one about your birthday!
When birthday blues,
Got you down.
Dont let it hit you,
Cause your still around.
It cant be too bad,
To celebrate again.
The day that,
Your life began.
So sit yourself down,
And with a smile just say.
I dont care about age,
I will have a great birthday!
Happy birthday! Hope its great. I am assuming you meant, next Monday? :))

Wow, that's a brilliant poem and reply, thank you so much. I have to admit to not being much of a poet, maybe kids rhymes suit me better, but I love yours, thank-you so much I'm going to print both out and put them in my kitchen so when I feel grumpy about next week you can chear me up! Thanks!

Thank you. Ah. That made me blush print it up :)) I was hoping to cheer you up. Sometimes I write poetry just to make others feel better! It always makes me smile when it truly does work. :))

I wish my dear friend Rainbow, a very happy birthday on monday. I wish her all the luck, all the joy and may all the love in the world envelope her. May the good Lord bless her and protect her even though she doesnt ask. May He be with her in front so that He can lead her properly, follow her so that she'd be protected, be on her side so that she'd have a trusted friend all the time. Good luck and take care.

Age is only a number. When people are children a birthday is a big thing. It helps the child remember what age they are. But, when you get older sometimes you want to forget that number. In that case you might celebrate your birthday quietly. Someone once said that their life started at 75.

You know, i will be 23 in May and i have draded my birthday since i was about 12. no, it has nothing to do with getting older. It has to do with what my friends did (or rather, did NOT do) and how i was treated. Usually, only my family remembers my birthday and it is rather depressing...so i just try and forget it even comes. Half the time, i will have forgotten it is my birhday until my mom mentions it.

Awwww Happy birthday to you!
Don't feel bad about your birthday, be thankful that you're around to see another one.
I do know what you mean though with your rhyme lol. I hit 30 next year and I'm really not looking forward to it. I warned all my friends that they will not be holding a party for me because I'm sitting indoors and crying all day LOL.
I should start taking some of my own advice I think lol, and not feel bad about my birthday.

Bless you, that's just how I felt when I hit 30, now my real life friends don't get to know when it is if I can help it, lol. Though it was time I dealt with my birthday avoidance and my friends messages are making me feel much better - we'll see what monday brigns, lol!
