What would you do if you saw your students kissing in front of you?

Being a teacher can be a pain in the neck sometimes.
This actually happened six years back when I was still teaching in one of the Catholic schools in my hometown.
I was copying notes on the board and after a while, my arm felt heavy because of all the writing so I decided to give it a rest. I laid my summarized note on the table and was about to sit down when I saw two students kissing each other for all the class to see. The poor teacher didn't know what to do. I was stunned and wasn't able to let out even an ekkk! Their classmates looked at me in a sympathetic way but kept mum about everything as they were already used to seeing the students concerned doing it in their presence. Instead of scolding or calling their attention, I pretended nothing happened and despite the numbness in my arm, I continued copying to divert the attention of the other students.
If you were in my position, how would you have reacted?

I'm more concerned for American students (Indianapolis) who actually had s*x in their Sixth grade shop class while one is on the lookout. I've read that in the news somewhere... very recent & far worse.

a lot of kids grow too fast nowadays I guess... or maybe it's the parent's fault for letting them go much too freely.

hahahahaha...poor you, it seems to me that you are the only person so misplaced at that moment of time, anyway, it just a blatant show of the changing times, times that we ourselves have built upon - for whatever you felt on that you are as guilty as they are, in the first place they felt secured it can be done in YOUR class - otherwise they be doin it somewhere else infront of someone else, this time it happens to be you, might be out of context but not in the arena of heated passion

The truth was, those students did the kissing in any body's class. They kissed even in the corridors where everyone can see them. And for the conservative Filipino culture, it was something out of the ordinary. I really didn't know how to react because that was the first time it happened in my class. And maybe, they didn't think I'd face the class at that instance because I was writing something on the board. When I informed the principal for proper action, he just shrugged the event off, so I thought "no big deal".

I would have probably done exactly what you did the first time around, freaked out and shut up, but given time to think about it and if it occurred again I would tell them that they were there to learn not to make out and made them sit away from one another. It's one thing doing that stuff in the halls in off time, but classes are for learning and it distracts the other pupils too which isn't fair.

Yes, it wasn't a good feeling specially that when I had the principal informed, he simply smiled at me...and to think it was a religious school!
