Hello sallore, Norton and McAfee are both very effective softwares when it comes on detecting malicious viruses. However, if you have too many applications plus the norton antivirus, it uses a lot of memory, thus making your computer run too slow, regardless if you have enough SD-RAM in your CPU to run the applications. In other words, norton is a hog resources. For paid version, I can suggest Kaspersky and Symantec antivirus. These two are very effective in terms scanning and detecting viruses, malwares, worms, etc. For a free-version antivirus, I can suggest to you to use AVG, AVAST, and AVIRA. Currently, I am using Avira AntiVir Personal Classic Edition. Since using this one, I have never had problems at all with regards to the overall function of my machine. It updates regularly and can be scheduled at your most convenient time. It is very light on resources. It does not use a lot of memory, hence does not slow down your computer. Personally, I prefer Norton. It is better than McAfee. Norton notifies you and automatically downloads updates for you. I have had less viruses with Norton.

I've tried Norton Antivirus it didn't be that good, I am talking about it's speed and protection. I don't know anything about Mcafee Antivirus. I am using Avast and it's very great simple and good, that's how I like it.

I use Avira. It's free and it update automatically eery day. I think it's the best actually online

every brand has its own strengths and weaknesses, the best is to use one and update it regularly, do not open emails coming from unknown people, never go to sites not familiar and personal discipline.

well for us here in the net cafe where i work, avg is the best, we have tried norton and mc afee but using them makes our computer slow. so we decided to try avg, now we are okey and more safe to internet intruders.

AVG for me is the best, I hate norton, because in executing norton, you must have no other activities in your computer in order for you not to hang/log, as well as for mcafee, AVG is the best. and it updates automatically everytime you log in.
