I purchased my first cell phone over 8 years ago and it was used for emergencies only and remained in my car. Today, I never go anywhere without my cellphone and I probably use it more than I do our home landline phone. Even my 80 year old grandmother has a cell phone! Does everyone have a cellphone and why?

In today's world of ever changing technology, it does appear that everyone from little kids down to grandparents have cell / mobile phones. More than a decade ago, in my house it was only my father who had a mobile phone, and then as us kids got older and started going out, he got us all a mobile so that our parents could be in touch with it.
With so many various mobile contracts and deals available (speaking of the UK, Dubai and India where I've used them) - sometimes it works out cheaper to have a mobile. My work hours vary, and I'm hardly ever at home, and find that it's no point giving my home number out anymore. I just give out my mobile or my email address.
Mobiles come in very handy when you are out in cases of emergency, if you forgot something at home and need to call up to collect it; allows you to be reached even if you are travelling; be in touch with friends and loved ones. They are quite handy :) I never go anywhere without my phone these days, and if I have left it at home, I feel quite handicapped.

Certainly not everyone uses and has a cell phone.
Indeed since the last 17 years, the demand for cell phones continues to increase from year to year.
Need for communication,
And the desire to communicate more quickly and comfortably into one of the triggers.
Today, children around the age of 3 years can use a cell phone just to play or communicate..

Hi. kaiyascloset. I am not sure if everyone has a cell phone, but I do know that many people have one because they find it very useful to have one in their possession. A cell phone is very much needed in today's society. It allows many people to communicate with someone that is far away or that is unable to reach at the moment. A cell phone is a great device to have because it is very much needed in this fast paced world.

I think most people have cellphones nowadays. I think it is more convenient to have cellphones since it is portable and we can contact the person wherever he is. Plus there are other features in cellphones that make them interesting to use. We can have internet access where we can check our mails. Play games, listen to music and watch films at the palm of our hands. It is a good thing to use to pass time.

here in the Philippines, majority of the people here, even a child and the olds have a cellphone...
some of them having no load into their account but still they have a cellphone....
they don't care if it's a China-made Phone Nokia Imitation as long as it is a touch screen and dual sim they are already enjoy it....
some are don't care if no food to eat for today as long as he have a load on which is unlimited for one day....
it reduce stress,
the fingers exercise
and laughter is the best medicine if the message is wow!!!
low bat???? that is a big problem
why?
because brown outs and black outs are frequent here.....

i have had my cell phone for a few years now and it`s come in handy over the years they kids keep in contact with me when away it`s so much more convenient .
I don`t believe in all the children having them i have two nephews they are 7_8 they both have cell phones i can`t understand why children of that age has them .I was watching a programme on tv where a teacher at school had enough of them coming to school with them this was grade two .He at the start of the day asked all those students who bought one to school with them please put it on his desk 95 % of the class had one he gives them back as they are leaving at the end of the day .This has gone a bit overboard when children this small have them

Cell phone had become a neccesity item in our life in the recent years. The convenient that it bring us makes us so dependent on it. During weekend days, it is part our my working tools, I owned a smart phone that able me to sync with microsoft outlook calender, tasks list and contact list. I am so dependent on it for my appointment and things that I need to do.
Currently, I am considering to terminate my landline phone, since everyone in my household has a cell phone, people should able to get me in one way or another. It will save me on my landline phone charges.

I use a cell phone exclusively. Having to move often in the past few years, it just made more sense to keep a cell phone than to change my landline number everytime I move. With a cell phone, I keep the same area code and phone number, no matter where I go. I don't think there's a point in paying for both a cell phone and a landline. So, in the end, my cell phone wins out.
