Do you think Americans are more stylish or Europeans?

americans buy all the european fashion, more than europeans do (americans have more money i guess), and remember tom ford for gucci, supposed to be the most influential designer of the past decade even with all the european bigwigs, doesn't it prove that americans can be pretty stylish if they put as much time and effort as europeans do. not to say that i believe americans are more stylish, just am really looking for an answer to sway me one way.
