When you absolutely need to escape, where do you like to go?
If I just need a few hours I like some of the cafes here in Guelph, such as The Second Cup. If I need a day to myself I like to head to Toronto and walk around, making sure to stop at my favourite Turkish restaurant. If I need a couple of days I like to go to Sunset Villa, a litle Danish retreat not far from here, and if I need even more time, I'll be on the next plan to Sedona Arizona.

I go to my bathtub. It is cheap and I can add bath salts. If I really need to take a break, I got walking. We don't have much money so we are saving up for that trip to Delaware to walk on the beach.

When I need to escape the most I actually like to saty at home - all by myself. Make sure that my bf is at work, unplug the phone and pretend to not be home if the doorbell should ring =)
However the turkish resturant would be a nice idea - like turkish food alot =)

Marie.
My problem is that my apartment is in the basement, so getting out of here is a part of the reason why i need to escape in the first place. LOL The rest of the time I just need a change of scene.
My mother and my landlord will put their ear to the door and friggen LISTEN to see if I'm at home, if I don't answer.
"You WERE there, I heard you belch!"
AARRGGHH!!!
Well if you're ever in Toronto, check out The Balkan Bistro at 126E McCaul.

I love to just drive for hours in through the country with the music blasting. That usually makes me feel a lot better. I use to love to drive cross country but that stopped when I had kids. I miss it very much. Seeing different things all the time it was wonderful

As soo as I started to read your discussion, I knew Sedona Arizona would be in there somewhere. LOL How is Walker? I am so glad that you had a good time.
I like to take a vacation once a year to leave all our troubles behind and just go away. Where nobody knows us. Anywhere, where nobody knows us. We have been known to go cross country to Oregon and to the Grand Canyone. You just never know where we will go

If I could get a day to escape, I find that a trip to DeGoedes a local tulip bulb farm is rather enjoyable, of coarse the shopping for things to plant in my own yard, garden or pond, always relaxes me, and allows me to escape mentally, which is really nice.

I just need a day in the salon or spa so I can really relax all day. When I get back home I'm fresh and beautiful. Maybe someday when I already have more than enough money I'll give myself a treat.

Short term my escape is going to the gym which helps get rid of the frustration, anger and stress, just 90 minutes working out on the treadmill, rowing machine, boxing and pumping iron does me the power of good, it is my sanctuary. Long time I go down to my retreat where I can recharge my batteries be with friends and be by the sea.

I'm not the athletic type, but I can see how the gym would be helpful in de-stressing. Sometimes when I just want to fling something I go to my Dad's place and throw darts.

When I need to escape from reality for a while, I go to my room and get on gaiaonline.com. I know that seems sad, but I sometimes need a break and thats where I can go to forget about real life problems for awhile. It's nice to be able to do that...although, having kids, even that doesn't always work. I use to go lock myself in the bathroom and take long hot baths, but then m kids would just knock at the door every 5 minutes.

Well I am actually with Marie on this one. If I need to "escape" from the worries of the world, I tend to like to stay at home, with nothing but my cats, and my Internet for company for a day or so:-)) I eat loads of chocolate, donlt answer the phone or the door, and sometimes stay in my dressing gown all day - LOL! If I have to go away though - I would say a good escape for me is the Highlands and Islands of Scotland where I used to live, as you ca walk for hours, bever see a soul, and hear nothing but the sea, and the occasional sheep.

When I need a break or to get away the first place I go is a park in my hometown which is just a few miles from where I live now. I'll walk the paths or just sit and watch the water in the pond with fountains or if at night there's a manmade waterfull I have loved since a child.
Further away and meaning a day trip or longer is Lake Michigan. Since high school that's been my "place" and I've always dreamed of someday owning a house overlooking the lake and waking in the morning to a view of the lake.

I don't really go to a particular place, but I love to go shopping whenever I need to escape my troubles at home!

I go to our waterfront area in town and relax there. Whether it's nice out and I can walk along the shore or if it's cold and I can simply sit in the car and just relax, it's a wonderful way to escape the real world if only for a few moments.

Whenever I need an escape, I usually jump in my truck and head out for a short cruise. I usually pick up coffee somewhere along the way. I wind up in one of two places.
Sometimes, I just hit the park and go for a quick walk around the loop or I go to the library. I love the park because if I am stressed a nice walk relaxes me. The library is just a cool relaxing place to greab a book and sit down and read uninterupted for a little while.

In the winter, I head to my favorite bar. Believe it or not, despite the rowdy atmosphere of this bar, I still manage to escape from reality for a few hours.
In the summer, I ride to a nice park in Lachine, a suburb of Montreal. I just sit there facing a lake for 30 minutes or 45 minutes and then I feel like somebody new.

I like to stay at home and read when I need to escape. If it's just for few hours I like to visit with my best friend when she is available and go to a cafe. If I need a day well I would just stay at home. Now if I need an escape of many days then if it is possible I like to go to Canada or France.

does this escape means, all alone?
i only do escape if i wanted to renew my faith to god,
so i would prefer going to monasteries, sacred places and the like
or staying at bath tub if upset, considered a escape? then thats another thing i do too =)
but most of the time if i wanted to escape from work, i do it together with my loved ones, for honestly i hate the thought of escaping from them. if only i can be with them all the time =)
