There's no way the Pistons are the best team in the NBA. They are easily the best team in the Eastern Conference, but that's like being a steakhouses on a street full of burger joints. The Western Conference is the cream of the crop. At least the top 3 teams in the NBA all call the Western Conference home. Phoenix, San Antonio, and Dallas all beat the Pistons in a 7 game series. That being said, like I answered a different question, yes the Pistons have a shot to win the title. Anything can happen in the NBA, and the Pistons might have a much easier path to the Finals, possibly having to only deal with LeBron as a challenge to the Eastern Conference throne. They can outlast the East, but the West is looming. Would I call Detroit a favorite? no. But do they have a shot? yes.

Very well said. There's no denying the championship experience the Pistons have. They have the right kind of swagger, the confidence of champions, but as you said, the best Western Conference teams just are too good to call Detroit the best team in the NBA. They may be the best in the East, but when you talk about the best, it's easier to overlook the whole Eastern Conference and pick a team from the West than to disregard the obvious advantage of the West and pick out the only great team from the East.

Unfortunately, the Pistons are not the best team in the NBA. The San Antonio Spurs are going to win the championship.

there is no way that the pistons can win a championship ring this year the compititions too tough in the western conference. With the mavs and the suns on a roll there is no chance at all but i do think they'll make it deep into the playoffs they will probably get beaten by the heat or by the western confrence rep.

in some ways, yes. it would be so easy to think that the best team would belong to the west because of the overload of superstars and league leading teams in that conference. but working as a team? i'd say the pistons might be one of the best. they've still got the core of the 2004 championship team, plus this season, they've got a valuable veteran in chris webber, who doesnt necessarily need to score for the pistons, but could pass and play well in the paint. the pistons too play the best defense in the league, team defense that is. we might say that the suns, mavs or the spurs are the best teams in the nba, but the pistons have blown out the suns once and was beaten by the leading mavericks by only 4 points, and considering that star chauncey billups didn't play in that game. we can't judge a team by just looking at its gameplay. gameplay changes game after game, what matters most is consistency and control of the game, and i think the pistons have both

Definitely not. C-Webb's feet have got much spider webs on it. Not just webs but also rusts. If he could have joined the Pistons abot 4 or 5 years ago, maybe the pistons could have taken the crown. On the second thought, C-Webb has got the jinx within...and finally, he can never replace the young Ben Wallace.
