My son turned two 2 weeks ago and he went to the dentist last week. They are really good with them and don't force anything on them. Basically they check their teeth for cavities, count their teeth, clean them if the kid will let them, and check to see how straight the teeth are coming in. Jonathan did really well although he bit her once when he was tired of it all. At that point she just talked to him and he let her finish.

I took my son to the dentist when he was about 11 months ( now 17m). I did it because his teeth started to look funny. It turned out that when he was forming in the womb, his teeth didn't get enough calcium and caused them to be soft in the middle. Let me tell you that he hated the dentist. He screamed and hollered because he had to be strapped down to get fillings in his top 2 front teeth. It was not a good experience for him, but I'm glad that I was able to get his teeth fixed. May be he'll do well on his next visit.

My daughter is 3 and she just had her first dentist appt. about 6 months ago. She has another appt. in May and my 10 month old also has an appt. that day. My dentist likes to see them when they start getting their teeth and since my son has 7 teeth and 3 more coming in then I say it won't do no harm. My daughter did not like it. She bit the dentist and I asked her why and she said that she didn't like his hands in her mouth. I hope it gets better.

The current recommendation is that children should visit the doctor once a year after age one.
My daughter is almost 4 and we still haven't been. But we do brush her teeth regularly.

I waited till Heather had all her teeth. Some say that you should take them when they only have one or two teeth to get them used to the dentist. I was luck my dentist is very good with scardy cats like me and he is wonderful with my kid. I think you should take a look at your daughters mouth and if you are brushing her teeth regularly and you don't see a problem then wait till all her teeth are in.
