Is your dog afraid of the wind?

I have a dog that would do anything to protect us if someone tried to break into the house. Yet, when it gets windy outside, he has to jump into bed with my wife and me. Does anyone have a dog like that, and do you have any idea why they are afraid of it??? Is it that the dog is afraid of the noise, or is there something that they can sense or hear that we can't? I'd love to know this, because my dog takes up the whole bed. Thanks in advance!!!

im not sure if my dog is afraid of wind, but he does always bark whenever there is a big windstorm at night... he does however love to hang out the window and bite and the wind as we drive at high speeds. i dont think i have the real answer to your question, but i do know its pretty funny to watch them freak out about the wind.

My dog likes to be with me if there is thunder and lightening. I don't help much but I am also afraid. We have a cat that goes into high speed reverse when we open the door and cold air comes in. The funniest thing was the other day when he decided it was nice enough to go out and he turned around again and BACKED OUT the door.

lol...that's pretty funny that your dog is afraid of wind. My dog in my country side is very scary as he is but most things he is afraid of is thunder, chainsaws and he gets pissed when he sees rubber boots :) i do not really think you can get rid of your digs fears but I wish you luck :)!!

My dog has fear of the thunderstorms like all the dogs, and the gale, it is in house with me, and tries to come to me in arm, if I can I take it in arm and it is calmer.

When we walk Kai and it is really windy, he will sit down. He doesn't like the wind blowing up his backside. He gets very stubborn, digs his feet in and just won't budge. When he is inside, he is fine. Tara on the other hand, will howl all night if it is windy. But she is not as bad as Amani was. He would run into the bedroom and try to hide. He would sit there and shake. He wouldn't climb into our bed, but he just stood there and shook. I really felt sorry for him. He was afraid of other noises as well but he never heard some of them when we lived in Alaska. Try Bach remedy, they should have something for your pooch. There is also something that you can get from your vet. I just can't seem to remember the name of it. I'll let you know when I find it.

i don't have dogs, but i do have cats that are afraid. i think it's the "sudden noise from nowhere" factor. they seem like they can't figure out where it's coming from,or what's making the noise.

That's pretty cute actually..hehe! I've never heard of a dog being afraid of the wind, maybe he's afraid that it's gonna blow him away somewhere. Our dog has never thought twice about the wind, but when it comes to snow falling he gets a bit silly. He'll start snapping at it and letting out weird noises, usually this only happens at the beginning of winter until he becomes used to it, though.

My dog at our other house used to freak when the wind would blow our mail box. She hated that. Now she freaks when the wind blows stuff at our new house. So the whole wind in general doesnt really scare her but the affects do. She freaks out about ALL kinds of things! Shes a little dog though and she tells me when afraid. She makes me hold her really sad.

Some dogs fear the silliest things. One of my dogs, Berkeley, is terrified of her own shadow and her own relection. She barks at them relentlessly and growls at them. She will even try to run from them. She will do pretty mcuh anyhing to protect us, but she is a wimp about her shadow and reflection! By the way, i effing LOVE Tool.

My dog is afraid of the wind and loud noises and music. She can't hear the wind when she's inside the house. But if I take her for a walk and it's windy she would pull towards the house and won't do her business. If you don't want your dog to get on the bed when she's scared, you tell him to get off and push him off the bed if he won't try rolling up a newspaper and hit him with it. That's what I do when my dog tries to dig in the trash.

I don't actually have a dog but our neighbors have 4 or 5 dogs. Whenever they hear something loud they will all bark at the same time. It's really irritating most of the time because they won't stop unless the sound they're hearing would stop. I really think they're afraid of some things. I have read that they can sense things a lot better than human so when they feel threatened or scared they will make noise or hide somewhere.
