It's become a popular thing nowadays where people are illegally distributing illegal copies of DVDs locally. I've seen it a lot in Mexico and in the Philippines. I've also watched it in documentaries where even in the States people sell them secretly or in private markets such as Swap Meets. I've also notice pretty much throughout the world some people do that. Even though the police raid them and arrest these people that do them, they are always more that continue to do it after waiting in amount of days or weeks. What do you have to say about all of this? Is it a big issue or not?

My family has gotten a DVD player in like 2001, and we have not yet purchased any DVDs. No, we did not pirate any DVDs, we only rent. 2 bucks for 7 weeks is a great deal. We don't rip it to our computer, but we don't EVER need to see a movie twice.
Except Borat, we watched that right after we watched it the first time.
And don't the actors get paid from the movie theatre? Me and my friends go there alotta times just to hang out. I think I'm the only one in my family that has been to a movie theatre over 3 times. My father has went twice (he works from 1 to 11, 2 hours away and no time) my mother has never gone (she's mentally ill 'crazy' and stays indoors and freaks out like a retard) and my 7 year old brother went once because he is unfortunate because nobody has time to take him)
I think that the only people that are causing the actor's to lose money is families like my family (this is only temporary)
And when you think about it, not too many people pirate movies. A big cause of this is the fact that alotta ppl dont know how to (it's a sad fact, 99 percent of ppl have a good pc, but 10 percent of that percent know how to operate one)

Yes it's a big issue. It has to do with greed and desire. People wanting to make a quick buck at the expense of others. People are risking it all for nothing in my opinion. I wouldn't do it. It's a federal offense and one can do a lot of time for the crime. It's not worth it.

Not all people can enjoy the luxury of buying an original dvd or even watching the movie on the big screen with the continous increase of their prices. The higher they increase, the more people would resort to pirated CDs and DVDs.

to me, it down to the question 'why do you buy pirated dvd?'
myself for example, I'll buy pirated dvd because i can't stand the censored version at the cinema or the film didn't even been distributed to my country(due to the explicit content).
yes, it will hurt the film industry but as a viewer, i think i should be able to see the whole film and judge it myself.

It is a huge issue. A friend does it all the time and has already burned the move "300" for me and it just came out.. I don't know how to do it even..
But the prices of movies are just too high for people now.
Just so an actor can get paid millions.....They have to make changes to the price structure or pirating will increase
