An unpleasant morning ride in the train while coming to work this morning. A fat guy was sitting beside me and was munching away on his bread which i think was his breakfast, while clearly there is a sign visible to all that you're not suppose to consume any food or drink onboard the train service.
Alot of onlookers and glares from public commuters but the guy pretended that nothing has happened and continues munching his bread. At last, when he munches his last bit of bread, i thought this ordeal was finally over but he continues to fish another piece of bread from his haversack. How could someone be so selfish and irritating and do not care about others feelings? By not letting the public eating in the train, will help to give us commuters a fresh and clean environment to enjoy while transporting us to our destination or would you enjoy a train ride full of cockroaches and etc....
What would you have done if you were in my shoes?

You can talk to him, but you didn't, did you? Did anyone ask him to stop? If no one did, he assumed it was ok to continue even though there is a no eating sign. But if someone asked him to stop but he refused, he can always be referred to the relevant authorities. Take a picture of him instead and send it to the press.
BUT BEFORE YOU DO THAT, how do you know that he might not be famished? If he doesn't eat there and then, he might faint and you have to lug 200 kg of him out of the train and disrupt train service for an hour. You want that? :P
Or, he might have some medical complications that require him to eat. I am not a doctor but I should think such things are possible.
So there are actually many angles to a seemingly innocent event. Just to give some ideas here. ;-)

Dear Wizard, no i did not tell him off and yes, i should have told him off. Considering an act of selfishness and inconsiderate on his part. That guy should have eaten his breakfast long before boarding the train, if everyone comes to the train authority and demands that they have to be treated differently, the authorities will have a hard time maintaining law and order in the public commuters sector. Just my thoughts...

I can understand your frustration with the man not being considerate and I am sure that there is little you can do to deal with someone that is so oblivious to the people around him. That being said, since you seem frustrated by his actions, I am sure that you normally wouldn't call someone "FAT" just because they annoyed you. :) Hopefully, tomorrow's commute will go better for you !

not trying to attack you or be mean, honest question.....would you be so upset if it were a thin good looking guy doing the eating? I agree that everyone should have to follow the rules of not eating...but the fat comment kind of is hurtful to those who are overweight. especially because those who are overweight get treated with less kindness alot of the time.

i would not have done anything. except stare at him perhaps. but some people don't get it when u stare.
i witnessed this on the train one day. a woman told another that it was wrong to let her son eat. the other woman got really mad. there was this terrible name-calling that ensued. they fought until it was time for one woman to get off at her stop. even then she screamed something nasty as she got off. another passenger tried to stop them from fighting. but it was hard to get the offending woman to cool down.
