I have had my XBox 360 for over six months and have never had a single issue concerning power or functionality with the unit. You should definitely take the unit to Microsoft instead of the original retailer, because it will get you attention from the manufacturer. They can repair it or give you a new one and you can almost be certain of better quality than the ones from a retailer. I will tell you this, I used to work in the stockroom of a electronic retailer (I won't name names, but they like yellow tags..."Good Purchase") and we threw around these systems in the backroom when we were stocking them. You should definitely be wary, cause a lot of warehouse employees do not take care with these packages and it makes it more difficult to find quality products.
