I want a star by my name. Someone told me you have to earn a certain amount of points before you get one. I notice they are differnent colors and numbers, what does that mean?

You will get your star when you reach 100. And the star is a reputation...not a rating as some would call it. The reputation shows others your rep with other people here on myLot. If you have a low star, it is because people have rated you with a negative or the "-" because a discussion or response or comment. But the more positives or "+" you get, the higher your rating to a 100/100 or a 10 star. But mind you...some people use the rating and star as a way to get back if they do not like you for some reason or you disagree with them. This is abusing the system. Truly, a negative rating should reflect on a person that is causing a fight or responding with only a one or two word answer. We as a community need to realize that people are going to have different opinions and this should not be reflected or directed in a negative manner on one's star rating to get the star reputation to drop. So, remember to be happy, no not argue, try not to disagree with people, and conduct yourself in a respectful manner when posting quality. And you too will have a 10 star. And welcome to mylot. :)

Thank you. That is what I was just wondering about. It would be nice if Mylot, had a reason for the low rating, and could assess whether it was just because of a difference of opinion. We all have different opinions, and if you close your mind off to them, then you are doing an injustice to yourself. By making people have to account to the low rating, they will think twice before giving that low rating.

This star with a number will be provided after reaching 100 points on this site . The points are shown within the brackets after our user names . At present your points are 2 . The points increase as we participate in other members discussions . This number within star denotes the user reputation system of Mylot web site . More details about this can be seen at the following discussion started by Mylot administrating staff: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/573319.aspx

Thank you. that was helpful. Sounds to me, it can be hit and miss, if someone doesn't agree with your post, they can give you a low rating.
