I'm sure that I'm stretching for discussions here, but this is one of my favorite things to do in lab!LOL! I like isolating bacteria and then testing them to see what they end up being. I know, I'm strange;)

I thought that was rather fun too! I loved microbiology lab. I didn't like having to identify the bacteria so much because the tests were so time consuming. But I loved transferring bacteria with a loupe into various solutions and types of agar to test for different things. And I definitely enjoyed streak plates. I miss microbiology. Next week I start organic chemistry, which will make me miss microbiology even more probably.

I know, I also really like burning the build up off of the inoculating loops and needles too!LOL! I like doing the tests too, especially acid fast stains. Don't like that I get green stain everywhere though! I have to take Chem next semester but I am not looking forward to it. I really dislike drawing bonds and having to remember specific R groups and crap like that. It seems totally irrelavent to me:( Maybe I'll change my mind once it starts, and it's the only science class I have left to take so I'm sure it'll go quick!

Oh I loved doing staining! I was already used to doing gram staining from working in an animal hospital. Spore staining was a fun one. Mobility testing was really cool too. I tend to like bio more than chem. But I have like 4 more chem classes to go! 3 Ochem courses and bio chem, ugh! I better start liking it.

I liked the acid fast stains too-except for having to heat fix so long!

yes isolating bacteria and other microorganisms are very exciting and more excitement comes when are able to identify it by using various test. also without good isolation we cant have good culture and without good cultures, we cant experient their paotential economic use.

That's not strange to me. Lab was my favorite academic part of being in college. I like that I could experiment and figure things out on my own. Seeing is believing, right? Out of the biology department, my favorites were the Pathogenic Microbiology lab and the Comparative/Human Anatomy labs...other than those two, I favored the labs from the chemistry department.
