Is Tying the Knot so Important?

Are you in a delimma between staying single and being tied to? How long will this relationship last? This mirror my opinion on marriage, I am not comfortable on getting hog tied. In fact I have a fear on this kind of relationship. If it is cowardice so be it, as long as I wont be suffocated. In fact I prefer to be a single parent rather than be married. Is this selfishness? Maybe, but isn't getting married selfishness too?
