My house is made of wood with vinyl siding on it. We can tell the difference in the summer time because we lose alot of our air conditioning through the walls and around the doors and windows. we can also tell a big difference in the winter time also because alot of heat escapes the same way. this was our first home that we ever bought and we bought it brand new. If I had a choice of another home it would definitely be a brick home because they last longer and they hold the heat and the air better and they within stand wind a weather damage better than a wood home does.

I prefer house made of stone. But I actually love both of them. The house where I live now is made of stone and we have 2 guest house that made out of wood for friends and relatives in case when they visit us for vacation. So they can stay with us and have their own privacy, and I found that our guest house that made out of wood is easier to renovated when we feel like we want to have it in different style since it is not permanent house....

Naturally one of stone.. A house of wood might catch fire easily. Then you would have no house. :P

I would like to have one with elements of both! I really like some of the houses around that are part wood and part river rock. However, if I had to choose, I would choose stone.

I've seen some beautiful homes made of stone. I think I'd choose stone and then use wood for the inside walls. That way I'd have both!
And I think I'd love not having snows! I figure one can always go visit places with snow if you like it.

i would choose to have a house made of stone (brick,..) because i'm quite sure it wouldn't be blown away by the big bad wolf.

I love houses mad by wood.I know all that stuff about security and fires.....ok I agree, but the woods home are so relaxing exactly as you say.You have a nice warm feeling when you live one of them.I live at a big town and my home not from wood but inside of the home everything are from nice brown color wood.I was lucky I find this home because I didn't build as I like just i rent the home.
Anyway i hope one day i have enough money for I build a home as I want.

How about a house made of stone and wood? I dream of native house with a stone as a foundation and the walls and interiors made of wood. It should be located on a hill or at least an elevated land to avoid floods. If you have seen the native houses in Thailand national parks like in Chiangmai those are perfect!

I don't really know, here in Michigan we have "Michigan Stone" houses. These are all very very old and were built from the stones pulled from the fields. Most times the walls are as much as a foot or so thick - they're warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I have always dreamed of someday having one myself.

I have noticed you were changing your answers every now and then from house made of wood to made of stone. lol
Anyway, for me, it would depend on the location. I am more attracted to houses made of wood especially if it's really fully furnished and if it looks decent. I find it more relaxing too. I think having a house made of wood is suitable for vacation houses only especially if I'll have it built near the seashore. At least when it's summer, we have a place to hang out. It's in our so called "vacation house made of wood". lol
But for practically sake, especially if I would live in a city where there are other buildings and houses nearby, I would opt to have a house made of stone for security purposes. :)
