do you agree in euthanasia (mercy killing)? what will you do if the doctor asked you if you are willing to pull that "plug" off your mother/father/brother/sister's life support? will you do it or not?

Well about the doctor...I think they must be the one who prioritize life! However we can't blame them for that it's their job and descision. To start with, as we discussed in our class, euthanasia is against the teaching of the Catohlic chrch(and also other religons I think?)God gave us our own life so He must also be the one who decide if it's your time or not We ourselves are also not allowed to end our lives, and so are others! Life is an important gift no matter who owns it.In line with this there are also many questions buggling me right now about it's true purpose and worth...I think God don't let us know it for us to explore life to the fullest and not to be directed by a purpose.

I dont care how it sounds from me, but i truly believe that in life can be situations when euthanasia is acceptable and even needed.

i support euthanasia. It is better for a man to die when he is struck by a deadly painful disease.the man becomes non productive and also the life becomes a deadly punishment for him.more the time he spends here, more is the pain suffered by him.so he should be made free from this painful world as soon as possible

I agree to euthanasia, but there's one very important thing to consider - to KNOW - before you pull that plug off someone's life support: you must be absolutely sure that that is what the person whose life is on the line would want. If he/she specifically gave instructions before he/she got into that situation, or if you know that person so well and you're in a position where you have the authority over that person's life (and you know that he/she would rather die), then yes, I would do it.

here you are talking about pulling the plug again.... How do you feel about administering a dose of poison to someone who wants to die? There are 7 definitions of euthanasia in a web site I just browsed, and all of them are quite different, perhaps everyone should be a little more specific about where they draw the line.

ok kaevielf, you said there are 7 definitions of euthanasia in one site.. but isn't it clear in the topic that "are you willing to PULL THE PLUG off of your father/mother/brother/sister's life support"? what do you think?

Well just like I'm against abortions, I'm also against this. Killing is killing no matter what and it's wrong. I know there seem like their are some situations where it might be acceptable, but it's not. Also I would pray for a miracle if I knew someone that was barely hanging on. I'm a very strong believer in miracles, and I can confirm that they are very real.

I think we should agree it.the physician's duty to relieve suffering and pains is more imprtant than his responsibility to save life.
