I broke my ankle in Oct 2006 while on holiday, It was a bad break with 3 broken bones and a dislocated ankle, I can walk now but I still have a bad limp and I can't walk more than a hundred yards without my back seizing up, the pain is terible and I am worried in case I don't get back to normal.
Has anyone else experienced this at all and if so did they recover completely?

My father experienced preety much the same wounds, and was advised a 2 months bed-rest , but he didn't comply, and he is still now regreting it. So i would request you that please abide to the doctors presciptions, and i am sure you will be getting well soon.
My best wishes are always with you.

Sorry to hear this :(
I'm currnetly off work with a broken ankle but only broke one bone, however needed surgery to fix up the bone to heal properly. Still in the cast. How much physiotherapy did you get, and do you know if it would be possible for you to go and speak to your doctor or the local hopsital's physiotherapist? They may be able to recommend some exercises to strengthen the muscles so that it helps you walk properly.
Good luck!

Hi Moopy,
I am still seeing the consultant at the hospital. I have been having physio every two weeks seeing him again tomorrow, I have a letter from the consultant about my back for the physio so I will see what he says. When I fell I it was on steps and i twisted so I am hoping my back wasn't damaged, I had no pain with it when it happened so made no complaints about it. The consultant has warned that I will now get arthritis but I assume he meant in my leg, and I am sure it couldn't come on so suddenly. My foot still swells really badly as well I hope you don't get so many problems with yours.
