Pete Rose

Pete Rose - Pete Rose, manager of the Reds
United States

I used to be a big Pete Rose fan, and until recently would have advocated for him to get into the Hall of Fame. Now with his latest admission that he bet on every Reds' game while he was their manager (after previously saying that he did not bet, then that he did not bet on every game), he has become a joke. Does anyone else still feel that he should be in the Hall of Fame?

I remember when this scandal first broke, but don't remember if they were merely allegations at the time. No way do I thik Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame following such an admission (brag!). What a jerk!

Pete Rose was one of the best American baseball players of all time. After he retired from playing, he became a manager. While managing, it was discovered that he had bet on games in which his team was playing. He was subsequently banned from baseball and made ineligible for the Hall of Fame (an honor reserved for the greatest players of the sport).

Hey I'm not a big sports fan but I do know the name Pet Rose and so what if he bet on the games. Was he betting against the Red's and then causing his own team to lose? I don't know from what I've known he did his job and did a good job of it. He lied and that's not right but I've never been under the understanding that people got put in the Hall of Fame for being perfect.

It hasn't been alledged that he actually bet against his own team.
