Ah do you mean the 'pith' yes I eat it all, well apart from the skin itself, although I do have a nasty habit of finding pips in my oranges, especially if they are supposed to be seedless. I don't eat those, but I haven't the patience to peel off all the white bits.

Yes the pith, I couldnt rememebr the correct word for it, is rind also a word for it? It is annoying finding pips, especially when they are supposed to be pipless. This is another reason why I seldom eat oranges.

Is that not the zest? Perhaps there are two words for it.

Really, thats good to know. What about the white bits on bananas, you know like the strings that you can pull off, are they good too?

I sit there and peel off as much of the white stuff as I can and then the segment of orange ends up splitting and then I freak because I am in such a mess. I really do not know why I do it to myself at all. I think I am crazy.

Thats what happens to me too. I was sitting eating one in work yesterday and I got it all over my desk, hands and jeans! All because I didnt want to eat the pith.

I think actual oranges themselves are the worst culperates. I think satsumas are the easiest.

Oh listen to you calling it the pith. I normally end up sittign there until my mate removes to form my hands and puts it in the bin. He always has clemintines at his house and they are the worst for it

I don't eat the pith it's too bitter for me, I also will suck out the pips before eating the segments as I don't like them either.
I love Satsumas as the pith comes off easierly and no pips.!

Ye now that you mention it, I knew there was areason why I didnt like it and I think that's why. I also don't like the texture and the fact that you cant chew it properly.

I peel the rind off, but the little bits that stick on are fine. My 15 yr old will obsessively pick everything off, and it'll take him 30 minutes to eat a small orange!

30 minutes to peel an orange, now that is obsessive! Did you know that 8 orange now has the same goodness as 1 oranges in the 40s?
