The running of 2 anti virus prgrans is not as dubious as many people seem to think, but it is a rather pointless practice and will use system resources.
You will gain absolutely nothing by operating 2 at the same time, and they are likely to conflict and use too much memory, so it is not recommended.

But is it okay if you have two anti-virus softwares in your system and only run one at a time? I currently have two in my laptop but I only run one of them at a specific time.

now why would you go and do that? u should never install more than one. I had major problems with the family PC when my dad decided to install anti-virus over the current one.

I had a friend who had two anti-virus programs installed on her computer and it majorly slowed her computer down. If you feel confident that your computer will be to handle both anti-virus programs running at the same time than I don't see anything wrong with it. But I would be careful doing so.

Installing multiple antivirus softwares would cause some conflicts in your computer. It would make your machine hang, thus making it useless to use. One antivirus is already enough to help protect your machine against malicious viruses and worms. Of course, it is important also that your windows firewall is turned ON. This firewall also blocks the entrance of any viruses. Installing antispyware would not cause conflicts with your machine, so I suggest that you install at least one antispyware. When surfing the net, use mozilla or opera browser. These two browsers are much safer when compared to internet explorer.
Hope this would help to you in any way.
Have a great day and God speed!

When I bought this computer, it cam installed with 2 different antivirus software on it. I had Mcafee and Norton. Macafee was free for the first three months and I was already subscribed to Norton Antivirus software. Mcafee used to interfere with my Norton because it would always appear and ask me to accept or deny things right after I would accept it through Norton. It got on my nerves and drove me crazy, so I eventually uninstalled Mcafee because it was too much of a problem to have two antiviruses running at the same time on the computer.

It is not really a question of "safe" or "not-safe". It is just not possible. Try it if you don't believe - the 2 programs will have a conflict and render your system unstable.

Its safe but some times you can face the problem of slower speed because there are some anti-virus that don't match each other so these can slow down your PC...

NO, WILL HOSE YOUR COMPUTER.
You can have multiple anti-spyware and anti-adware. Under no conditions should you install multiple anti-virus programs.
