My seven year old son is writing his first story. I am so proud. Its about a dog who loves peanut butter. We do an online study along with a few other types of homeschooling mixed together. Through this program he can add pictures and text. He is highlight key words, to make a preschool learner book for two of his friends that are 4 years old.
How sweet is that? He is so funny. I love him to peices. He can print his story along with the pictures when he is done. He wants to send a copy to his dad in Iraq, and print off copies for his friends.
What do you think about what he is doing? This is something he started on his own and came to tell me about it. I think is awesome, who knows maybe he might be the next Dr. Seuss.

I think it is cool for a guy child to be writing like this. It could lead to bigger and better things. We hope for that.
My daughter is 14 and has published yet not distributed her book. We are looking forward to that.
I think the kids in this day and age are different and sometimes in a good way. We homeschool, nothing online, we do it the old fashioned way. Daughter is avid computer user though.
Good luck with this and you should be proud. We all can be when they do things like these.

That's so GREAT. When I was six, I wrote part of a book, but couldn't get the conclusion right so I discarded it. I wonder if I should try to republish it. I've still got the story firmly in my head and it would just be a matter of typing it and fleshing out small details. Consider yourself very lucky as a mother to have a child prodigy.

I think that is fabulous. I knew I wanted to be a writer around the age of 7 as well. My son who is in 1st grade does a lot of writing in class but it's not always stuff he is interested in. The curriculum at our public school is very writing and reading based. I'm sure his father will love to receive a gift like that. You have every right to be proud and I hope you continue to encourage him with whatever he chooses to pursue.
