How would you go about getting a job as an advice columnist?

I go to a local newspaper..you know the small town publishes once a week and volunteer to do it for three months. If they get a good reaction to it, then they hire you on. If you become more popular, see about either moving to a larger paper, one with a larger circulation - but still local, then check into syndication into other papers. Most dailies are owned by a bigger company. If you are popular, they will probably be willing to give you a shot.

I don't want to sound like a wise guy but I would make a website and start a newsletter. You can post your column on the website. When you develop a name for yourself you can syndicate your article. Have 100 periodicals paying you $10 each week for your column. The $10 is hypothetical. I don't know what they paid. If it were only $4. It wouldn't be bad if you had 100 or more of them every week.
