Are you happy? If so, glow for us. If not, what could change that for you?

I can definitely say that, despite all the troubles in my life, I am happy. I love myself, I love my wife, kids, family, friends, job... When things go wrong, I don't let it wreak havoc on me, I just do the best I can to fix it and move forward. There have been times in my life when I wasn't happy, and I'm very glad that I can honestly say today, yes, I am happy with my life. How about you? Are you happy? If so, tell us about it! What makes you so happy in your day to day life? What and who do you love? If not, is there something in particular you think could happen or be different that would allow you to be happy? Some would argue it's all in your mind no matter the external circumstances - do you agree or disagree? Anybody out there living truly crappy lives who are still happy? Anyone with great lives who are not?

yes I am very happy at the moment, I discovered a bit of a health problem and because of the symptoms my mind went wild, I was so scared, you know what I mean,,,,yesterday I went to the doctors and she assured me it is nothing serious and it is just a simple womans problem, I had my mind in a very negative frame and now knowing it was not what I thought has made me so happy and I am glowing, it is such a relief to know it is not what I thought...

Am I happy? Overall...yes. There are areas of my life that I would like to improve upon, but those things do not control how I feel each day. I have a chronic illness (not life threatening) and for a long time, I was really not very happy. I hated that things had gotten so bad and I grieved for who I used to be. Once I got past that grieving and accepted that who I am today is not who I was 3 years ago, I was able to come to grips and begin regaining my happiness again. Now, if you want to see me giddy and jumping up and down, give me a nice warm (80 degrees or more) sunny day. I can handle heat much better than cold, so when we get into the upper 90's or even top 100 degrees F, I am o.k.

"If you choose to be happy, you will be happy. If you choose to be unhappy, you are unhappy." -- whyaskq. We all actually are given the same one life to start with. It is how we lived our life, adding colors to it and enjoying the effects of our efforts, that we are what we are today. As such, it is possible for people with crappy lives to feel happy while those with great achievements not feeling happy.

I think it's important that we recognize that short of a fixable chemical imbalance, we actually choose (whether consciously or not) to be happy or unhappy.
