What do you do when you are stressed out. In the last hour and a half I have . .

Made sausage gravy for breakfasts later this week, make the meat balls for two new dishes--Margieanne's dish with meatballs, mixed vegetables and cheesy (fettucini sauce) and for tonight villeageannes recipe of skillet meatballs with potatoes. And a meat loaf, and guacamole salad, with onions.I will toast some garlic bread for supper. This might lead you to ask, why I am stressed. I got called at work by my husband, he needed to go to ER cause it is the Dr.'s day off, and he is having stomach issues and elevated blood pressure. That is what happens when he is under stress. I know it, he knows it, but he denies feeling stressed. He is working shift and a half to two shifts at a time, often with no help doing the floor work for a unit of nineteen people. This is not the first time that he has needed to quit a job over these symptoms. Upside of the cooking binge is that while I work 28 hours at my second job this weekend, and full time days at my first job, we have good meals prepared. The downside is that someone needs to do the dishes, I am on myLot.LOL

I tend to cook and wash clothes when I get upset or stressed. Those things relax me. I also listen to music while i am doing them.

Geez I was almost out of breath just reading about it. I think you need a rest..lol But seriously stress can do a number on people as you know. I hope your husband is okay. When I get stressed I try to pretend I'm not..lol But I can't fool my brain and it feels like it works tripple time and I can't hold a thought. I hope the two of you find a way to lessen your stresses...good luck.

I usually get on the computer or clean house. If I start cleaning when everyone is home, they know they had better leave me alone.

Whoa Girl! Slow down! I'm exhausted just reading that! But I'm the same way. I get stressed I don't cook, I clean. I get out the fine-brush and scrub the tile floor. Polish the furniture etc. Anything to keep my hands busy and my mind blank. That whole "Idle hands are the Devil's Playground" mantra playing in my head. I do hope that your husband is okay. I have had to quit jobs because of my stress symptoms so I know how knowing that that is a possibility can make it worse not better.

After reading your response to my question on working outside of home, I am surprised that you are still standing, friend. I have taken care of ill family members, and I have worked with alzheimers dementia victims. You do an awful lot, and I would have to just go run to try to outrun all of those cares. Yet you also know that "this too shall pass". Blessings today for you friend.

Well I just eat, and eat, and eat! I really have to watch myself to control it and sometimes it isn't that easy to concentrate on something that much when you are stressed.

OH my, you really worked out to get rid of that stress huh?
When I am stressed I usually sit down and read, or write, or paint a bit, or come to the computer and play with graphics. Those are the most effective ways for me. If it's summer and I have a chance, swimming, riding my bike or canoing also help a lot.
And since I found mylot, I found it helps too :)

Mylot has been a blessing to me. Some other things I cannot sit still for, if I am stressed.

When I am stressed at work, I tend to snack more.
When I am highly stressed at home, I go to sleep. Weird, I know, but sleep=relaxation. And usually when I get up, the problem is still there ... but I'm more relaxed.
If I don't have the time to take a nap, I usually quaff a pint or two.

I like naps. I like summer, when I work fewer jobs. I nap almost every day then. It really is restorative. Welcome to myLot.

WOW...one good thing about stress is you get stuff accomplished! lol I do that too when I'm stressed..or usually when I'm mad.. I clean when I'm mad.. usually I hate to clean but when I'm mad I clean everything! I can't eat when I'm stressed. LOL when I'm stressed I usually listen to music and sing..I do online kareoke so thats very good for stress relief..or I talk to friends or watch TV..or sometimes I work, that helps keep my mind off of stuff. I work at home, so I can work whenever I like. I hope your hubby is okay..no sense in working for a job that stresses you and ruins your health. When I get stressed or anxious I get stomach issues too..very painful..luckily I'm pretty mellow and not much stresses me. : O))

oh dear, gerty, I could easily get stressed out if I tried to live like you. I hope your hubby will be ok, and both of you should really try to take things a little easier. I think cooking and doing housework would give me even more stress. I would just throw in the towel and go for a nice long walk. When I get back I would pick up the phone and order a nice chinese takeaway and relax for the rest of the day. I would tackle the problems the next day and if I wasn't here, they would be left for somebody else to do so it wouldn't bother me...and treat yourself to a dishwasher..lol.

Wow after all that somebody else should be doing the dishes. I am lucky to get one meal on the table. This will make me think twice the next time I start getting upset because things don't get done while I am at work. It's amazing that you can do all that. When I get stresses I just go for a drive and try and relax it usually works for me. There are stress vitamins out there to if your husband would like to try them. Good luck and keep up the good work.

I have to tell you, gardengerty, just by reading some of the threads here are enough to stress me out. Like the one you responded to my previous thread about your baby sister, I'm deeply affected. Life is really a series of complications. When I'm stressed out, I will holler a friend, share a good laugh and drink a cup of coffee with them. I also tend to go to the shopping mall and splurge on some things. Nothing fancy, just a little stuff to ease my tension away. :0

Wow! you're really a great mom and wife... just think of it like you do all those things because of your genuine love for your kids and husband..and yeah, please don't take that smile off your face as that could somehow lighten up your day. Godbless!
