Are you making money with Adsense? How?

Hi! I've played with adwords, and putting in a decent amount of money learning the system, of course, began making small profits on affiliate advertising. I see courses about making lots of money with Adsense, which is free, and I understand the tie-in between the adwords users and adsense. I understand you can put them on your blog, on your site, etc etc, but all that requires you driving massive traffic in, which as far as I know, is a job for adwords. Are any of you making money from adsense without having to do that? Is there a way to get that traffic without investing an arm and a leg into something like adwords?
