I do not know how many of you have come across this : There are some emails and letters or text messages on cell phones floating around the world. The content of the message basically would say " So and so received so much of money or your wish would come true etc. if you pass this on to 10 people and if you do not pass it and keep it yourself it is a bad omen" . Now the person who receives this message will tend to forward it to 10 more people if not for good luck the bad luck is something which scares every one. OK, how does it generate money ? When you send 10 text messages, lets say one message costs 50 cents 10X50 $5 is earned by the cellular company. Further the 10 messages you sent will multiply by 10X10=100 which is $50. Next the 100 becomes 100X10=100 and so on. Lets say a total of 1000 people forwarded these messages in a day which is 1000X10=10000 and that is $5000. Now email is a little tricky. Though one may feel that no one is making money, the service providers like yahoo,g mail, msn etc make their money out of it. Each service provider keeps an account of how many mails are being sent using their service. This helps them to project their service in the market as high visit rating which would decide their ad costs. More number of emails would increase their ratings. I still have not figured out how the normal mail contributes to this. Can any one tell me how does letters earn money ??

Guess you did not get the zist of it. Please read once again properly. I am talking about the message which says if you do not send this it would bring you bad omen and if you send this it would bring you good luck. Ok, If you want me to be more detailed, it mean to say that you forward the message almighty will bring you good luck and if you don't then you are cursed. Every person who believes in GOD is very scared of this in back of his mind. It is not important as whether it really happens or not. The moral of the story is they are making money out of ones faith on god. Hope you got that now.
Just to add one more line; If you do not understand or if you feel that other person is confusing please say that in a polite manner. May be I was wrong may be you are wrong but its not a crime, correct the person but be polite in your response.

The reason this discussion was posted under religion by me is to say how the faith on god is being converted in to money and not to discuss a scam. If scam was the point of discussion here, then I would have posted this under mylot or some other title suitable to that effect.

I have seen these mails and sms`s. some of these messages also mentions "Jesus appeared so and so`s dream and told him to forward the message so that all his wishes would come true. If the messages do not leave the mailbox within next 10 hours something bad would happen" similarly lord shrinivasa and so on..
They are just playing with our faith. How to find out the source ? It is a tough job..
