Phuket beaches

I'll be heading there in early May, yes I know its Monsoon season but thats the only time I can take time off work. Just wondering if you guys have any idea which beach is ideal for swimming. I'll be staying near Patong Beach but I heard the water is not as clean as it used to be. HELP!!

Hey, Ive been to phuket several times and just come back from there about a month ago.
I would recomend trying to avoid Patong if possible - it's overcrowded and poullted now from too many tourists.
Karon and Kata beaches just down the road are nice but still quite touristy. Apparently there are some nice beaches the other side of the island, bit of a treack but mght be worth it.
