Will the new writers help the show?

I have been disappointed with All My Children and where the story lines have been going. I know it is a soap opera and things tend to be far fetched at times, but some of the things they are going with are almost appalling. Don't get me wrong, I can't stop watching, but I just don't understand why I hear so many fans that are so upset about some choices that were made, and nothing was done. They have wrote off so many characters in hopes to go with a younger crowd. I don't understand that. Dixie was the biggest letdown for me. I was so excited when she came back and just when you think things are going ok, without a lot of notice, she was gone just that quick. Do you think the new writers will help their reputations with the loyal viewers that have been watching since the beginning?
