do you believe in dwarfs?

Well dwarfs are normal people just like us only their growth is stunted. They try very hard to live normal lives and manage in a world where everything is too high up for them. There is an interesting TV show called "Little People" of a husband and wife who are both dwarfs but only one of their four children is little. The show follows this family in their daily activities and points out the obstacles they have to overcome. It occured to me also that maybe your question relates to mythical beings that exist in stories and sagas, such as the leprechaun in Ireland or the trolls in Northern European countries. I think those just exist in the imagination of people.

My mom had a friend who was 4 feet 7 inches tall. I don't know if she would qualify as a dwarf but she was very short and petite.

I think you have the wrong term. Dwarfism is a recognized condition where a person, animal or plant is much smaller than the most of the species. But it's not just about being short, but also some disproportion of head, arms, legs, and body. Most dwarves prefer the term little person or little people. I think you mean Gnomes?

It would be nice to see one like in Snow White but unfortunately they don't exist. If you see one let me know.

This are imaginary personages of books and movies. I don't believe they exist or that they have ever existed. But it's nice to imagine this creatures living with us.

If we are thinking of the same people, I believe the correct term is "little people" (anyone, please feel free to correct me if I am wrong). I have met some, and they were the sweetest human beings I have ever known. They are people just like you and me, only of different heights. I'm not trying to cause you anger by saying any of this....I just wanted to enlighten you a bit, that's all. I hope you don't mind hon.

I'm wondering if you have the same meaning for "dwarf" as we do. There is nothing magical or fearful about people with dwarfism. They just have different genetics than most of us. Perhaps you meant fairies or trolls or something mythical.

Yes I believe that they exist but I haven't seen them yet. Though I believe I saw some fairies or 'engkanto' when I was 9 years old while I was playing with a cousin since she saw it also. I believe that this world is too complex, huge and mysterious that we could not just discount the existence of other forms of beings.

I can see that you havent responded to anyone here. I think that its a little bit strange question, dwarfs are not that unusual so Im surprised that you havent seen one.

I think people are getting you the wrong way you must have wanted to say dwarf like the garden dwarfs, like sleepy, grumpy, sneezy from snow white but being they are similar words people will think you're talking about people that are genetically born to be short. I think the garden dwarfs are just fantasy creatures made when people didn't understand the real life small people...

I'm sorry to ask that what make you so sensitive to dwarfs? It is nothing funny seeing them, isn't it?

Well, if you're referring to the dwarfs whom old folks say living in the forests and belong to the spirit world, I don't want to experience it either. I believe they are spirits but I don't know if they are good ones or not. Old folks say that the white ones are the good ones and the black ones are the bad ones. My cousin who's still 2 years old always say that he sees tiny people in our sala at my parent's house. That scares me! What i usually tell him is that he's just imagining things. If I ask him more about that, he'll just point at the sala. I dunno if it's true or not. I just don't want him to be involved or to make friends with them. Who knows they can do harm, right? :)

Well, actually i am about to start this kind of discussion but since it was you who had started it, i will just share another story about this dwarf. Aside from the story i had posted on top here is another one. So it is one of the reason why i believe in dwarf. This story was told by my Mom, because i onced ask her regarding why my second cousin has some polio nor i don't know how to call it. THen my mom explained that she get sick when she is still a kid for about 3-4 years old. Then my mom followed the story about dwarf. As per my mom, my second cousin were always gone from the place they left her. THeir place has a big mango tree and other trees inside the backyard. Under this tree my cousin loves to play, whenever my mom looks somewhere else and get back her attention to my cousin, she get amazed where my cousin goes. Then suddenly hears my cousin's voice and look up of the tree. My mom and other relatives get shocked, how come my cousin can climb on that tree, she is only 3-4 years old that time, my cousin is happy swaying her legs over the branches of the mango tree. Another day pass, same situation happen again. Neighbors nearby tell them they also see something different from that place, and they beleive that a dwarf is living there and warned my relatives to carefully check my cousin from time to time. Weeks passed, my cousin get sick which is unknown to they why she get sick, there is no symptom of flu, colds, nor some muscle stress. My cousin gets a high fever, they were really in gossip. It is a culture in Philippines that whenever there are strange encounter and you've been to a place which has lots of trees and a little dark, we used to go to "albularyo" quack doctor "magtatawas" they are someone like spirit medium who can determine if there are some other creature made this sickness. So they sent my cousin to "magtatawas" to see it. Without telling this magtatawas regarding the previous incidence, the magtatawas diagnosed that my cousin were being played with the dwarf and this dwarf is trying to get my cousin into his place. Right after that, as a tradition, my relatives throw some rice in that area where my cousin mostly play. they throw rice (uncook) and even fill that area blood of a chicken. After this my cousin recovered. My relatives also ask permission to this creature to have somewhere to live away from that place, and that's the time they've been allowed to cut the tree. MY cousin is not more than 50 years old, her permanent sickness were caused by medical desease but not the supernatural. I know it is really hard to believe this supernaturals and other living creatures, man usually asks for evidences but the world is not willing to give it all to mankind. Believe thos who want to believe, but never fail to believe in God who created everything.

To know that outside creatures are fun to know with, but sometimes scary as they were not usual in our sight. I haven't seen it personally but many people in my country were telling about dwarf. There are some whom this dwarf get inside the body of a human creature say kids, and when the kid spoke the voice were so thin, knowing it is not the real voice of that kid but somebody else. I love to hear these kind of stories about dwarfs, mermaid and other creatures. One of our caretaker when i was a kid shared his story to me. When he was a kid he used to go to the hill to get some firewoods for their stocks at home. He used to go there frequently, till one day he passed by on a single tree which is obviously segregated from the other trees. The sorroundings of that tree were always clean, but nobody residing there nearby, suddenly he heard small voice and he begun to get curious where it came from. Till this dwarf appear to him to play with him. He found this dwarf nice and kind, play together and even invite him inside that tree. He was amazed with what are there, as our caretaker says what these dwarfs eats were not ordinary food. They have some fruits like ours, but their rice were alive, it looks like worm..some of the dwarf invite him to take some to eat, but his dwarf friend explained if you take it, you can't go back into your world, so our caretaker did not take any eventhough he feels starving. The place were promising..seems peaceful, beautiful and you will never get hungry. After 3 days passed in our world, but seems takes minutes only in the outer world, he farewell to his friend but before he go home he tried to ask for a remembrance from his dwarf friend. He asked for its cap. His dwarf friend apologize to give it, as per this creature if i give it to you all my power will gone and i might die. So my friend just thank his dwarf friend and go home. It was a happy experience to him. He says that these creatures show themselves mostly to kids, who are innocent and has no stain of greed.
