how do you treat constipation in children?

Alternate every second milk bottle with watered down fruit juice, prune,grape or orange (though orange can give sour rash) Also let him eat lots of fruits. Do not give sugar - only honey. A few drops of olive oil in his drinks will also help.

I would definately seek medical advice. When your little one is having a bowel movement, gently push his knees up to his ches and rub his belly. It will enable the stool to come out a little easier. But please seek medical advice to check there isn't an underlying problem.

My sister in law is having the same problem with her 1 month old. The doctor told her to put a little Karo syrup in her formula during every feeding until it stops. Youshould call her childs doctor and see what he suggests.

Try giving him water with just a little juice, not a lot just enough to give the water a little hint of flavour! i had to do this with my son as he couldnt stand water alone! and just keep doing what you are doin with his formula

My Dr & pharmasist told me that a little bot of prune juice (diluted) will do the trick to stop constipation. You could also try using a different brand of formula - some of them are better for some kids than others are so maybe find one that he can digest better!

My son is months 7 months old,he also got the same problem,i took him to doctor,he told me to add water in his food and give as dilute as possible. He aslo given me a syrup and asked me to give it to avoid costipation,but is should not be practised regularly.I gave it for two days by early morning and now he his free that and the problem got solved.
