John Edwards to Discuss Wife's Health

What is about this man's political campaign that irks me? Last week he knew what Jesus was thinking now he is using his wife's health as publicity. I feel for anyone who has suffered from cancer and I would hate to read that it had reoccurred. However he just says she has had a follow up visit. I would think he had more to say about what his views on the political future he envisions for this country should he become to be president. WASHINGTON (AP) - John Edwards disclosed that his wife, Elizabeth, had breast cancer the day after he lost the vice presidency in the 2004 election. Now his political future may hinge on her health. The couple planned a news conference in Chapel Hill, N.C., to discuss their plans Thursday, a day after visiting doctors who are monitoring Mrs. Edwards' recovery from the cancer. Campaign officials refused to answer any questions about what the couple learned at the doctor's appointment or how it might affect Edwards' second presidential bid. Edwards had cut short a trip to Iowa to be with his wife BUT still ATTENDED a barbecue FUNDRAISER Wednesday evening in Chapel Hill, their hometown. The campaign had said Mrs. Edwards, 57, had a follow-up appointment Wednesday to a routine test she had Monday. The campaign explained that she had similar follow-ups in the past but they always resulted in a clean bill of health. http://story.news.ask.com//article/20070322/D8O15GU02.html

He has no shame. He will say and do anything, to get where he wants to be. All of them are like that, and it irks me to no end. Nothing is private, they lie for brownie points, and say what we want to hear. They play on our sympathy, and needs.

From what has happened since you posted, he said that although the cancer has returned, BUT he was still going to campaign; Personally, I think he is taking a lot on his plate, he should be mindful of his wife's health foremost. that's just my feeling on the matter.

Yes I am sorry about that. It also said in the report that he had to cancel some engagements but strangley enough he was able to go to a fund raiser.

I am going out on a limb here and guess you will not be voting for this man. Most polititions know the value of a family when running for office. But is he trying for the "pity" vote?If he has concerns for his wife's health, then maybe he should not be running.

I do feel bad for Mrs Edwards as her cancer is back an incurable, however, I think this is a non-issue and should remain as such for the duration of the campaign. While I dislike Mr Edwards politics, I do like him as a gentleman.
