When my children were young I used to started my babies on formula I was forever boiling water in the kettle. Finally I went to the cupboard and brought out the Thermos we rarely used. Now I boil the kettle once at night time, fill the Thermos and keep using the hot water for bottles all through the night and the following day. The savings on electricity must be huge as the kettle uses up more power than the clothes dryer. The biggest bonus is that the hot water is ready instantly and the baby doesn't start to cry waiting for the bottle to be made, so what do you think I hope this help you.

My mid wife told me that it did not matter to give the baby warm or cold milk so in the evening I would make the bottle and leave it in the room for when she woke up room temprature milk was not a problem to her she never noticed in the winter I would sit the bottle in a pot of hot water to heat it up .
But I would heat bottles in the micro wave for 10 secounds screw the lid on shake the bottle test it and it was fine if it was to warm sit it in jar of cold water

You've been doing a practical thing. It's more effective and efficient than keep on boiling water in the kettle. I think it's bad for the baby to keep them waiting. Sometimes, it's unpredictable when they are hungry so you could not prepare ahead of time. Once the baby is used to drink milk on hot water or warm, they would keep on asking for that and would cry unstoppably if you'll give them not-so-warm milk. It's unhealthy for babies to keep them waiting to be fed, it might cause colic since they will keep on crying. I've noticed, they won't stop unless you feed them.

This is such a good idea! I wish I had thought of it! My son is 8 months old and pretty much sleeps through the night now but I will still use this idea for the day. Especially for the energy savings! My friends just had twins so I will definatly pass this on to them! Thanks!
