I had posted a discussion a while back dicussing the sudden death of our young healthy male cat, Charlie, that we thought was poisoned by a eating a lilie I had received at my new book signing. We have an update! The vet called us and asked if she could take a test on Charlie, being that they were still keeping him for us in cold storage until the ground thaws and we can put him in his resting place. She said that she had doubts from the beginning about it being the lilies that I had brought to her, as they were so dried out by the time that I had thrown them in the garbage can and the kitties got ahold of them, but there just wasn't any other possible reason for what happened! We are now on the list of victims of the bad cat food. I guess that not being able to bury Charlie right away was supposed to be, as most people just have their pets creamated. At this point I don't know quit how to feel, as I had been feeling so very quilty that I didn't know about lilies being poisonous to cats and putting them in the garbage can where they could reach them. Now I have a big weight lifted off my shoulders, but it doesn't bring our Charlie back, but on the other hand, even though we did lose our Charlie, it helps knowing that he helped to keep other pet owners from going through the heartache that we have and the terrible painful death that Charlie had to endure. God Bless.

I have given you a + rating for your posting sis. I truely am sorry for the pain emotionally that you had to endure. Unfortuately, nothing will bring Charlie back. It is sad that he had to suffer. But, I am glad that you do not have any guilt to carry around, thinking it was your fault. Now lillies are deadly for cats, so they still need to be hidden, but, it was the cat food. Such a sad shame, but hopefully, you will feel a little better knowing it wasn't your fault. I hope you are getting joy out of your new family of furry babies. Hugs.

How terrible, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure it doesn't make it any easier but at least you know it wasn't your fault. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet. I believe we will all meet again...until then, God bless you and yours.

I don't know if you heard or not, but it turns out that it was actually rat poision in the foods! They believe that it came from wheat gluton from China or some other source. :(

Yes I have heard this and many different ideas of how it got in the food. Whoever was responsible I hope they get what they deserve and I doubt it will be what they think they deserve.

Thank you for your kindness. It has been a hard thing to go through for sure. Our pets are part of our family. It has been very painful. If he was an old cat maybe it would not have been quit as bad, but he wasn't, he was young and heathly and suddenly he is just gone.
