I think that you can stp steralizing everything. Maybe just do it once in a while and make sure you wash them really good every other time.

My sons Dr. told me it wasn't necessary to sterilize bottles after the 1st time that you get the bottles. My son was 6 weeks early, so the hospital gave me tons of those premade/sterilized bottles and nipples. After they were gone, I sterilized his new bottles after opening them. From then on, I just washed them normally.

My baby is five months old too. For the first few months I was diligent about sterilizing bottles, nipples, pacifiers, etc. before we used them for the first time and then once a week after that. I still sterilize new bottles and nipples before the first use but for the most part I just throw everthing into the dishwasher or into a sinkful of hot soapy water and then rinse and air dry. Every once in awhile I'll toss everything into a Medela Quick Steam Sterilizer bag and put it into the microwave for 3 mins. but I don't really think it's necessary. My daughter just started on solids last week and I didn't sterilize her bowl or spoons before using them, I just put them through the dishwasher first. I don't worry about my daughter getting sick from germs or bacteria on or in her food or milk as much as I do from people touching her who havn't washed their hands or other little kids. That's what really bothers me!!

I'm really not sure to be honest.
My daughter is almost 10 months old, i still sterilize her bottles & teets & when she has used a bowl or spoon, it goes straight in to hot water.
You're probably better off asking your midwife or the Dr about this.
All i know is that you should do it for the first couple of months, i just cant think of when it would be ok to stop. I will probably stop when my daughter is 1 but if you think she's ready then it's all that matters!
