Hello
This is Laila from Sweden. Until I became a Bahai 30 years ago I thought just the same as you. I was then 29.
The Bahai Faith, founded by Bahaullah (1817 - 1892) has proven to me, intellectually as well as in my heart that all religions has the same God and that all Messengers of God, (other Founders, like Jesus, moses, etc.) are in complete agreement.
This mean this latest religion regards all previous ones as true, that they speak about the same Creator.
The followers of religions don't agree, they contend regarding almost everything, mostly because they are so old that they themselves have lost the spiritual warmth at heart where the spirit resides. They argue about outer forms, which is not important, whether there should be female priests or not and the like. But, the Founders themselves both foresay the coming Messenger or Founder and refer backwards to the former one. It can be read in their respective books, but followers jump over that.
Thus says Jesus to the pharisees, "If you had believed in Moses you would have believed in Me".
Also Muhammad says, "If you don't believe in Jesus and the Holy Virgin and all the old prophets (Old Testaments ) you are not worthy of believing in Me." Hinduism accepts many Founders.
Bahaullah says exactly the same. If one is a seeker, then one can just peacefully examine all , one after the other and can be wholly and confidently relaxed in the study of religion, they are all sent down as revelations from One Creator.
I prefer the latest one, since the principles are for modern man AND WOMEN. Women are being spoken to, this is new.! I am so happy for that. We have some prayers given only to us.
Among the basic principles is that of equality between men and women.
Then, harmony between religion and science.
Independent search for the truth. Don't follow blindly in the footsteps of your forefathers or mothers.
There are more principles.
Some Christians seem to believe there are several Gods, They have said, some of them Muhammad talks about another God, the God of Islam. So... all this can be confusing. What one has to do is to do one's own research, be openminded and confident.
Here is the site of Bahai, in case you want to inform yourself. We have no priests, you don't have to fear, that we will try to persuade you. Only God can do that, if you sooner or later decide to make a thorough study of this the latest religion. It is not the last one,
It is good just to remember the name Bahai.
Stay happy ballerina
stay humane
Kind regards
from
