Do go by the brands name or ad watched,while buying the things?

Sometime its been seen that people are so imressed by the brand name of the things that they buy the things even without knowing much about it.There are some better quality things than those brand name in some cases but people don't prefer to buy it.Do you go by the brand name only or sometime see the quality also before buying it?

i sometimes look at the brand, but if i like the products it doesnt matter to me anymore about its brand.

i think that quality matters more than brand name.
But the fact is that it is assumed that brand name defines the quality, but i don't think so. The brand comapanies were also not branded always, the brand coms into existance after producing quality materials. So brand comes from quality not quality comes from brand.
